Shawn Patton He/Him

Principal Designer

What is the weirdest job youʼve ever held?

I have, on two occasions, played Buster the Recycling Raccoon, the mascot of recycling. Granted, I didnʼt get paid, but I did get free food.

What is your favorite all-time game?

Favorite all-time game is a hard one. Iʼll give you categories. Classic = Sopwith, Multiplayer = Worms 2, FPS = GoldenEye, Party = Catch Phrase, Fighting = Smash Bros., CCG = Yu-gi-oh!

What games are you playing right now?

W.E.L.D.E.R. Wars, Angry Words, Words With Friends, Candy Crush Saga, Uncharted, Dominion, Eddie Cantor

What motivated you to begin working in the game industry?

Seeing other people have fun playing my games motivates me. I started in 3rd grade and never looked back.

What inspires you?

Seeing other people playing and enjoying experiences I helped create inspires me. Also, playing cool games others came up with that I would never have thought of recharges my creative batteries!

What is your proudest achievement?

Our theme park projects are my favorite and among the most satisfying projects Iʼve worked on at Schell Games. The way families can enjoy them together is the best!

What piques your curiosity?

Creating systems that enable players to do cool things in different ways piques my curiosity.

What is your hidden talent?

I can curl reasonably well (you know, that sport with the brooms).

What is the best thing about working at Schell Games?

The people and culture of testing and iteration are the best parts of Schell Games.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

People would be surprised to know that I took Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art, for 2 years (donʼt worry, youʼre safe, I forgot most of it.)
