#1 VR Game Takes Top Honors at Proto Awards

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (September 24, 2015) – Schell Games’ latest virtual reality (VR) game I Expect You To Die was named Best Overall VR Experience at the Proto Awards ceremony, which was held Tuesday night in Hollywood, CA. The game also was recognized for Best Gameplay and Best Interactive Design, scoring a total of three trophies at the show.

The award-winning game is being showcased at the Oculus Connect 2 conference being held September 23 – 25, 2015. With over 17,000 unique downloads on Oculus Share, the game has been the most highly rated experience on the Oculus platform since shortly after its launch in June 2015.

Made specifically for Oculus Rift virtual reality platform, I Expect You To Die is a VR puzzle game that lets you step into the world of an elite secret agent to attempt to survive a series of deadly situations. The goal is to complete the mission using brain power, cunning, and a top secret device that gives you the power of telekinesis. The game pays homage to James Bond and escape the room games with its design, art style, narrative, and sound. Currently the company has made one level available for free on Oculus Share.

The game was also a finalist for a Unity Award in the Best VR Experience category.

In addition, CEO Jesse Schell opened Oculus Connect 2 yesterday by sharing his insight on making great VR. His talk was based on his recent Gamasutra article, “Making Great VR: Six Lessons Learned from I Expect You To Die,” which was published in June 2015. In it, Schell describes his background with virtual reality technology and offers six tips for creating comfortable, engaging VR experiences.
